Anyone who has been in the business or marketing sector knows that it is really about the customers. More customers means more sales and more cash…I mean isn’t that why we go into business in the first place. But what happens when your effort in business seems futile? Do you just give up? You see good marketers are just like awesome fishermen. They know how to fish for customers.
Really want to know how to fish for customers or drive traffic to your website and up sales, read on.
The four (4) simple steps to increase your customer base:
Know your ideal client: Before you start your marketing, be specific about the type of people you want as clients. Everyone out there is an audience but not all of them are what you should be working with. Not having a specific client group in mind is one the reasons people don’t get expected ROI. You end up having a lot of customers that you don’t really need.
Having a target audience will reduce your audience to a select few. This is a good thing as you can focus on providing a specific value for these people, people you really need – the ideal clients. This is the best way to maximize value, have and create huge ROI.
Create your leverage (bait): now you know your ideal client, you need to lure them to you. You need leverage…in the fisherman term, you need bait. You need to know what it is that can lure your ideal client to you. What do they want that you can provide? This could be a product or service but it has got to be valuable to the client. One good way to lure clients is to provide them with free stuff. People love to get something of value for free. Have in mind that this approach to marketing is one that lays a foundation for increased sales. This is because overtime, you could offer something of greater value for a price.
Locate your ideal client: have you ever seen a fisherman who doesn’t go fishing? Well I haven’t. You know what you are fishing for, you have your bait. Locate where the ideal client is and offer to them the bait. So this has a lot to do with the personal lifestyle of your ideal clients…their social life. On what social networks can your ideal clients be found? Go as deep as what groups on these social networks can they be found? You need to have an understanding of the social networks and their audience. Buy Ads and post your high value content (bait).
Be consistent: You need to keep them coming and at the same time, keep them. This is all about customer acquisition and retention. Always be ready and able to provide high-value content. Oftentimes, you see people put in great effort to acquire customers and not enough to keep them. As much effort should be put into retaining customers. Have a ware-house of high value content, something your customers can easily and readily access. A simple example of this could be a website, a blog or even a social media page.
