Ridwan Balogun is a Frontend Developer at Prudent Digital. He is a key and dedicated member of the Prudent Digital team and has been super amazing since his joining. This month our spotlight is on Ridwan and we decided to have a chat with him and here’s what he had to say:
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Solving technical problems, coming up with ideas, implementing the ideas, working with great people, learning new stuff and evolving gets me out of bed in the morning (Oh, I forgot…the fear of getting fired is part of it) [Just kidding] 😂
How would you describe your day job to a child?
Well, as a software developer, I write instructions (code) that a computer can understand and follow. The things that happens when you press/tap a particular button on your phone is what someone like me writes to instruct the phone system to follow to exhibit the behavior.
I write instructions, not just for phones but for different applications.
Basically, I tell computers (Which includes your phone and other devices) how to display, interpret, process and store information using the instructions that they can understand.
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
I do frequent researches, designs, development, tests, debugging and compiling stuff.
I set up operational specifications, formulate and analyse software requirements by applying principles and techniques of computer science.
I modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to a new hardware or to improve performances.
In addition, I monitor functioning of equipment to ensure they operate in conformance with specifications.
I consult with project managers, UI/UX designers, Front-end and back-end developers, software testers, end users to evaluate and develop solutions.
If you could switch jobs with someone, who would it be?
Well, aside my genuine love for good food, I enjoy spending my leisure time in the kitchen. I would love to switch jobs with a chef, so that I can have a full time commitment for my kitchen skills.
What are your biggest professional challenges?
1. Dealing with unrealistic expectations
2. Staying current with new technologies, programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
3. Striving to develop high quality, high performance and secure codes.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
“It is an unpredictable life, make the most of it now!!!”
